Grappa, chess and longevity: the secret of Walter Visentin, aged 104 years

Walter Visentin, born in Vicenza on August 13th 1920, is an extra ordinary example of how active life and some little pleasures may lead to an enviable longevity. Walter, aged 104 years, was a sharpshooter during World War II, but he maintains a clear mind, trained with his beloved chess game and a simple but effective philosophy of life: observe, search and deduct. He claims this helped him maintaining a young brain.

Despite the age, Walter never renounced one of his daily pleasures: a glass shot of Grappa after dinner. “Every evening, I have a coffee and then a Grappa glass shot”, he recounts with a smile.
His active life, including physical activity and a constant interest for reading and logic games, proves that Grappa, with moderation, may be part of a healthy and longaeval life style.

With Walter’s example, we learn that a balanced approach to life, made of curiosity, active life and little pleasures, can truly contribute to living longer and healthier.

From all of us, a wish of good, yet long life!
