Sicilian Grappa, between Marsala and the tradition of limoncello

In Sicily, the most popular alcoholic beverage is Limoncello, the lemon-based liqueur known and appreciated worldwide for its fresh and aromatic taste.
Nonetheless, the production of Grappa in Sicily holds significant importance, boasting its specific Geographical Indication (GI).

Sicilian Vine Varieties and Marsala Grappa

The most common vine varieties in Sicily include Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Grillo, and Inzolia. The pomace of each variety gives the Grappa a unique character.
Special mention should be made of Marsala Grappa: in the Sicilian town famous for its fortified wine, a Grappa is distilled that, aged in barrels that previously held the wine, enjoys a rich and complex aromatic profile.
